First prayer experience took place in Thessaloniki by an imam and muezzin employed by the elected mufti.

Muslims prayed for the first time with an imam and muezzin assigned by an elected mufti in the Yeni Cami (New Mosque), one of the Ottoman works which was allocated by the municipality. Approximately 200 people including the Turkish Consul of Thessaloniki had the chance to pray for the first time with an imam and muezzin assigned by an elected mufti in the Western Thrace.

The mosque was allocated in 2013 and 2014 as well, however the insistence on assigned imam by the Greek State led to an empty Mosque during the prayers.
