The founder of Friendship, Equality, and Peace Party Sadık Ahmet who was also imprisoned several times and is known as the leader of the Turkish Minority was the first Turkish Minority Member who was elected to the Greek Parliament. However, in 1990 there was introduced amendment through which 3% national threshold is applied which is twice as much as the population of the minority. Currently, the minority tend to elect Turk candidates from other national parties
